Corridor History

The Beaufort Digital Corridor is the response to a request by the City and the citizens of Beaufort to grow a high-wage economy while further diversifying her economy. 

The following represent a few milestones in the development of the Beaufort Digital Corridor.

  • January 19 - First Beaufort Digital Corridor Foundation Board meeting

    February 13 - BDC announces Board of Directors

    February 17 - First CODEcamp class commences, Intro to Web Development

    March 2 - 1212 Design - Web design company locates to BASEcamp

    April 6 - First BASEcamp Gallery event

    April 10 - First Tech Profile (based on Leadership Profile series)

    May 2 - First Google Partners hosted event

    May 4 - Free Wi-Fi upgrade/expansion ribbon cutting with Hargray and City of Beaufort

    May 25 - Board Chairman, Kevin Klingler interview with South Carolina Business Review

    June 4 - PollPit - entrepreneurial students from the College of Charleston ImpactX Accelerator locates to BASEcamp for pilot live/work/mentorship program

    July 10 - First member-driven series geared towards local businesses, Sip and Learn Social - Tech for the Rest of Us 

    July 14 - Pilot program AppX - app creation geared towards those who learn differently with Dr. Chris Starr and Jill Striebinger

    July 21 - First appearance at the annual Beaufort Water Festival Non-Profit Expo

    August 1 - Wave Sciences - Audio technology company locates to BASEcamp

    August 27 - Board Chairman, Kevin Klingler and Program Manager, Shelley Barratt interview with The Tech Life with Rich Conte, Silicon Harbor Radio

    September 1 - Mindflint - Digital marketing/design company locates to BASEcamp

    September 29 - Featured article on the Business page of The Post and Courier, "In a tide of stagnant economic growth, Beaufort is betting on the tech sector"
